One Less Stocking

by Michael St. James

/

about

Sometimes Christmas is not about the presents you get, but about those who can no longer be present. This is for my momma, Louise. This is for anyone who has lost someone and is missing them this year and every year.

lyrics

Holiday places, surprise on children’s faces
And everyone’s filled with Season’s cheer
Chestnuts roasting, everyone’s toasting
And I just wish that you were here

And I know that this too shall pass

But there’s one less light this Christmas
There’s One less hug to Feel
I know you’ll be here in spirit
But there’s one less stocking to fill
Yes, there’s one less stocking to fill … this year

Peaceful snowing, pretty lights glowing
Everyone’s laughing and dressed in style
Bells are ringing, the choirs are singing
And I just wish I could see your smile

And I know this feeling won’t last

But there’s one less gift this Christmas
There’s one less seat to fill
I know you’ll be here in spirit
But there’s one less stocking to fill
Yes there’s one less stocking to fill

Maybe these memories I pray will always last
Can fill this emptiness from all the souls who’ve passed
And sadness will disappear and turn into joy once again
